"Idegen voltam és befogadtatok": A hajléktalanok világa és nyomorúságos otthonok a mai Európában

A Keresztény Diákok Világszövetsége (WSCF, 1895) európai régiója szeretettel hív következő konferenciájára:

Kolozsvár, 2006. május 3-9.

A Habitat for Humanity nemzetközi szervezettel közös ökumenikus konferencia munkanyelve az angol. Hozzájárulási költsége pedig 45 EUR, az utazási költség 70 %-át pedig a szervezők fizetik.

A jelentkezés határideje: 2006. február 14.
Jelentkezéseteket küldjétek el mielőbb a csaba.orova@t-online.hu címre.

A konferenciáról előzetesen

A szegénység és gazdagság éles ellentéte kettészeli a mai európai társadalmakat. Ennek egyik drámai vonása, hogy oly sokan nélkülözik a megfelelő lakást. A konferencia lehetőséget ad arra, hogy szolidaritásunkat velük elmélyítsük és a gyakorlat felé vezessük. Kiindulópontunk a közös evangéliumi tanúságtétel: "Idegen voltam és befogadtatok." (Mt 25,35)

A konferencián szakértők adnak majd részletes bevezetést a hajléktalan emberek helyzetéről és a menekültpolitikáról, teológusok a szegénység evangéliumi távlatairól. Megvitathatjuk az "otthon" fogalmát, s lehetőségünk nyílik, hogy bemutassuk hazánk helyzetét, és kapcsolatba kerüljünk azokkal, akik közvetlenül nyújtanak segítséget a hajléktalan családoknak.

Az információk, tapasztalatok és viták alapján Te magad is részese lehetsz a szegénység és hajléktalanság elleni szolidáris küzdelemnek, s egy olyan ökumenikus találkozónak, ahol különböző felezetű európai diákok együtt tanulnak - egymástól.

"The Myth of Independency"
July 3-10, 2005, Brno, Czech Republic
The Central European Subregion of the World Student Christian Federation warmly invites you to join the forthcoming summer seminar on the theme 'The Myth of Independency'. The seminar will focus on the phenomenon of social transformation within the Central European context. Its special focus will be the notion of "independency", attempting to deconstruct its mythic appeal and to rationally and consciously examine both the positive and negative aspects inherent within it. The approach of the seminar will be primarily from the sociological perspective, but also psychological and cultural viewpoints will be introduced. Both theoretical and practical aspects of independence will be considered.
The programme will consist of five keynote lectures dealing with various aspects of independence and social transformation, including, e.g.:

  • Empire and Independence
  • The Post-modern Family
  • Mobility and Community
  • "Anti-Socialism": Ideology and Individuality
  • The Morality of Self

Besides the lectures, other programmes will be offered, including group discussions and workshops by the participants. We ask you all to consider sharing your gifts by organising a workshop on an aspect of the topic which is interesting to you. Aside from the thematic input, there will also be time for common prayer and worship; an excursion to important monuments in Brno; and of course for parties, talks and intercultural sharing.
If you have a good knowledge of English and interest in the topic, please send your application form to your country's contact person below, by 13 June 2005. We anticipate 50 participants from Central European countries, but interested students from neighbouring countries are also encouraged to apply. All accommodation and board costs are covered by the seminar; we ask only a participation fee of EUR 15. (If this fee is too high, please contact your national movement about the possibility of a reduced fee.) Travel costs for all participants from the five CESR countries will be reimbursed, but we ask you PLEASE to travel by the absolute cheapest means possible, short of hitch-hiking.
If you have any questions about the conference, please contact your national movement:

Respecting Human Dignity and Integrity: Theological and Gender Perspectives on Human Rights
Conference of the World Student Christian Federation - Europe Region
Vilnius, Lithuania

The topic: This conference aims to explore the history and current status of human rights, especially in Europe. Starting by acknowledging the importance of human rights, we will touch on a number of topics. Are human rights universal? How is the situation of human rights at the moment in Europe? The gender perspective will be central: how is the particular vulnerability of women addressed by human rights? We will specially focus on the issue of trafficking (prostitution where women are moved from one country to another): what are the human rights of women who are victims of trafficking? The theological perspective will also be dealt with: are human rights superfluous in a Christian context?

The programme: We aspire to work through a number of different methodologies, including plenary sessions, small groups and creative workshops. The programme will incorporate space not only for "professional" input, but also for student participants to share their knowledge and interests related to the topic. Apart from the intellectual content, there will also be opportunities for social and spiritual development through cultural exchange and common prayer and worship. Finally, the programme will include an excursion into the Vilnius area in order to better understand the local context.

The participants: The conference will bring together from across Europe approximately 50 students and young people (ages 18-26) who are active in Christian movements in their home countries, with guest lecturers consisting of academics and activists who specialise in this topic. A good knowledge of English is necessary. For more information or to receive an application form, please contact the conference organisers at vilnius05@hotmail.com. The application deadline is March 15, 2005.

The organiser: The World Student Christian Federation is a global fellowship of Christian students in more than 100 countries. We organise conferences, training events and solidarity activities. Europe is one of the Federation's six regions, with 23 national Student Christian Movements (SCMs) in 18 countries. We believe that faith and social justice cannot be separated. As Christians we must be ready to be engaged in theological, political and social issues. WSCF is a space for discussion and sharing ideas from different perspectives as young Christian students in an open-minded way. We strive towards unity in diversity across the boundaries of denomination, nation, culture and gender. WSCF aims to provide a forum of Christian witness and ecumenical dialogue for students.
